Rebel Girl-You are the Queen of My World

It has been FOREVER since I blogged. And here I am, starting over on a brand new page. If you don’t know me, go read some of my past blog entries that I included here. They are all a part of my former life, before my husband Kyrik and I had a little baby girl named Rebel as a wedding gift.

I never knew for sure if I wanted to be a mom, mostly because I didn’t think I had that natural motherly instinct that some people do. But I said that when I got married, I wasn’t going to try to not make it happen either, because something in my gut told me that I was supposed to be a mom, someday. Even if that meant I waited until my late thirties.

And wala, here I am, in this moment, 39 years old, married with my first little baby girl, Rebel (she’s already almost 2, it has taken me awhile to return to my blog and my cupcake lifestyle from the whirlwind of becoming a first time parent).I’ve definitely discovered that although I am sort of a rebel myself when it comes to parenting, that being a mom is definitely part of my path.I knew Rebel was growing in my belly when I was only 2 weeks along. That is how intensely I love this little girl. I felt her presence. Hard.

My Rebel girl in the kitchen with me.

I also have ALWAYS known that part of my path is doing something crazily amazing and unique with my career. I’ve been trying to reach success in my career for over a decade. Without creating something, I just don’t feel like myself! I moved out to California in my mid twenties and became a designer in the fashion industry. Unexpectedly, I ended up as this bright sparkly character,Amanda Cupcake, back in the Midwest, where I am from.

You know what I love about being both a mom and Amanda Cupcake? That I get away with running around on play dates in pink sequin boots and wild pink hair. One of Rebel’s favorite words is “glitter” and she asks me to apply it to her cheeks.

I used to have this dream of opening up a whole bunch of franchised locations called “The Cupcake Mansion”. And somewhere in my heart I think that would be wonderful if the timing were right. But my goal has changed a little bit now.My next goal as Amanda Cupcake isn’t to open a big “cupcake mansion” retail location, but to turn my home and my `lifestyle into a colorful cupcake mansion, and share it with others.Oh, and maybe, just maybe someday it’d be great to have my own Food Network show or something like it. ♥

I’ve discovered in all of my years as Amanda Cupcake, the things I absolutely LOVE are TV appearances, speaking to kids at schools, writing, creating new recipes, and food photography. Add being a mom and a wife to that list now.

I am the spunky pink haired glittery friend you want to have around, the first time mom who is trying to “balance” being a visionary. After several years of burning myself out trying to mass manufacture my art, I have simplified my glittery lifestyle to be a person who has the energy to give you her best.

I am looking forward to this new path, I have a great feeling because in this move I’m listening to what makes me, Kyrik, and baby Rebel happy.

I moved out to Los Angeles from a small Wisconsin town to become a fashion designer, and unexpectedly started my life as a fashion designer for cupcakes instead of people (back in my hometown, a decade later). I am a public figure, locally known as the pink haired quirky & soothing sweet baker who bedazzles my cupcake designs on local television morning shows. I thought my dream was to sell my cupcakes in retailers all over the nation, but in the process discovered that my cupcakes are a medium for me to use my voice. Through my hardships I searched for a light, and that is how I discovered this character I created-Amanda Cupcake. People have called me a real life Rainbow Brite. I think that this pink haired cupcake queen is what my soul looks like! I'm also a 40 something mom to a little ginger named Rebel, who is quickly growing!
