  • Pink Supermoon Cupcakes

    April 10, 2020 /

Since I wrote my last blog entry, the entire world has shifted. I have been hunkered down at home to “social distance” from my friends and family in an effort to slow the spread of the pandemic Covid-19. Last week I stood outside my parents’ door, glass shielding our touches while we talked. No hugs. I’ve been going through some odd process of grief / guilt / fatigue / overwhelm because the world as we know is not the same, and going forward, no matter what happens-good or bad-my world will never quite be the same. I’ve had guilt over buying sprinkles so I could continue baking as my therapy (I even asked…

  • DIY: Cake Pops that look like McDonalds French Fries

    April 5, 2019 /

Before I was a mom, I was really into fitness, nutrition, avoiding fast food. When I was pregnant though, I had so many food aversions. I hated meat, salads, vegetables. One of the only things I could stomach, and also seemed to soothe my tummy were McDonald’s French Fries.I ask myself, was this my body’s way of getting used to months and possibly years of hanging out at McDonald’s with my baby girl Rebel? Fast forward to a few years later (now), several of my closest friends are toddlers and other moms.I am part of a small mommy village, and our group calls ourselves The Momtourage.I am really lucky to have them (we met at…

  • Penguin Oreos ♥

    May 15, 2012 /

Oreo cookies are fun and nostalgic. ♥ But what makes an Oreo cookie more fun than your average Oreo cookie?Well duh, when you turn it into a penguin.  Especially when you turn it into a double stuffed wonder-by stacking an Oreo that is also now a penguin on top of a cupcake. Doesn’t it make you feel double stuffed in that wonderful warm fuzzy happy kind of way? ♥ You could just eat the Penguin Oreos by themselves. It’d be like they are swimming in the cold arctic glaciers when you are dipping them in your tall glass of milk. Maybe Oreo should sell these, boxed up in pretty packages at Christmas. And for dessert..Penguin Cake Pops.…

  • Orange Dreamsicle Cupcakes In the Winter!

    December 17, 2011 /

Waking up on a winter morning wrapped up in a big puffy blanket, looking out the window at a fresh snowfall is kind of like comfort food. And when the sun goes down, the sparkles in the snow become twinkly stars. If I lived in an edible winter wonderland, the snow would be fluffy and creamy and sugary. Like a dream……. sicle. Orange and White Winter Dreamsicle Cupcakes. I used an extra large #9 Ateco Open Star Tip to swirl frosting dreams come true. I used a basic buttercream frosting recipe, and added a splash of orange extract. See recipe below. My favorite brand of icing color (especially their “electric” line of colors!):  Americolor. Picking up the cupcake with a stick and eating it like…

Midwest Momtrepreneur with a California Vibe.  Lived most of my adult life as a wild and spunky cupcake queen. My Rainbow Brite persona led me to becoming locally famous for creating the most unique cupcakes you’ve ever seen. Now I’m in my late 30s and am experiencing motherhood to my little girl, Rebel for the first time.I’m often known as the soothing, sweet baker who adds glitter to my recipes on local TV. I’m hoping to use this blog experience to share my recipes, but also to share the new perspective I have on life as a mommy cupcake…with you!
